A cheaper alternative for treating Helicobacter Pylori than medication from a gastroenterologist

Do you suspect that you’re suffering from Helicobacter Pylori? If you consult a gastroenterologist in private practice he/she will perform an endoscopy (RM800 to RM1,000) and prescribe medications comprising powerful antibiotics (RM300 to RM400) for two weeks. After that you'll need to go for a follow-up blow test (RM200 to RM250) and if the result is positive, there’ll be another two-week medication. (Another RM300-400). Total damage to your wallet will be around RM1,800.

If you want to cut medical costs, at your own risk of course, you can buy Sandoz’s “Triple Combination for H. Pylori Eradication” set. It costs around RM70 only. But how do you know you are suffering from H.Pylori?

The symptoms of this disease are similar to gastric -- frequent nausea and flatulence that do not go away after taking antacids, and even if you avoid spicy food. So, if you suspect that H.Pylori is the culprit, you can go to a GP and ask for a blow-test. Very likely, he/she will not have the test-kit which consists of three small bags for you to blow into, but it can be ordered. Or you can go to a pharmacy that conducts a H.Pylori blood test. If the result is positive, give this anti-Pylori set a try before you rush to the gastroenterologist and suffer a dent in your wallet.

One pharmacy that sells the “Triple Combination for H. Pylori Eradication” set is:

Eennat Pharmacy
23, Jalan SG 3/10
Taman Sri Gombak
68100 Batu Caves
Tel: 03-6189 3089

The pharmacist is Ms Tannee Chan and H.Pylori blood test is also available.

NOTE: This posting is NOT meant as medical advice but to share information in good faith on a cheaper alternative based on my experience. No responsibility is assumed for any consequences arising from following the aforesaid suggestion.
