Sungei Tua has a dam ideal for angling and picnicking

About 30 kilometres from uptown Kuala Lumpur (KL) lies a picturesque dam called Batu Empangan that attracts week-end visitors for picnicking and fishing. Though the dam is nothing spectacular, the scenery is pretty charming, and waterfalls in the vicinity are fun for a frolic. A side attraction is the cheap food in the village of Ulu Yam. Getting there: travel out of KL towards Batu Caves using Jalan Kuching. After the Batu Caves roundabout, turn left to pass the Hindu Complex on your right and proceed along Jalan Batu Caves. Two kilometres ahead, turn right to Jalan Sungai Tua as indicated by a sign. Drive further on and you will come to the dam.
