Frog dishes of various types for late diners at Three Pot

[Pixs copyright Ewe Paik Leong]

Restoran Three Pot -- operating from 4:30 pm to 4:30 am -- specializes in frog dishes such as claypot frog porridge, claypot frog with spring onion, claypot kung poh frog and claypot frog with herbs. There are also fish porridge, minced pork porridge (either with century egg or salted egg) and shredded chicken porridge. Among other interesting side dishes are onion omelette, radish omelette, deep fried kai lan, spring roll and deep fried pork belly. The restaurant is fan ventilated and a laminated menu is provided to patrons.

I tried the claypot frog porridge, claypot fish porridge and spring roll. The frog porridge (RM12) was a bit bland and I had to add pepper and sauce. The frog was average in size. Pepper and sauce was also necessary for the claypot fish porridge (RM7.50) but it was refreshing with the ginger slices and sweet taste of the toman fish providing a contrast in flavours. The skin of the spring roll (RM11) was not crunchy enough and its filling a bit too oily. The Chinese tea was from yesterday, not freshly brewed, as it had a sourish taste. I did not finish it. Despite being unimpressed with my maiden visit, I will return again to try the claypot frog with spring onion as I’m a lover of frog meat.
